Can I submit more than one script? Yes. Fill out a separate online application for each script you want to submit. When paying your entry fee, be sure to select the correct "quantity" depending on how many scripts you plan to submit.
How do I submit my screenplay after I've paid the entry fee? Fill out the online application, make your payment, then simply attach your screenplay to your PAYMENT RECEIPT email and return it to us at scriptsavvy2007@yahoo.com.
I filled out the application and paid the entry fee, but did not receive an emailed receipt. Why? It's probably in your junk/bulk/spam mail folder. Be sure to check there before contacting the contest about missing emails.
What file formats do you accept? Doc, rtf, pdf, and fdr.
Do you require a title page? No, but please make sure your file name includes the title of your script.
What if I can't pay with a credit card? We accept checks and money orders by mail. Contact us for mailing instructions.
Can I send my script via postal mail? No. Sorry. The costs of making copies and mailing to readers is too prohibitive. Also, it's a good idea for every writer to get used to submitting their work electronically since many producers and agents prefer that method. If you don't have professional screenplay software, you can go to www.scripped.com where screenplay software is absolutely free!
Why am I asked for a shipping address when I try to purchase the entry fee? Online shopping carts are built primarily for businesses that ship goods to their customers, so this step is included as a default. We can't unprogram it. So please go ahead and type in your 'shipping' address. Don't worry, we won't charge you any shipping fees or mail you anything you haven't asked for.
If I enter with no feedback, will my script be read as thoroughly as the others? If so, why is it so much cheaper? Yes, every script is given the same consideration no matter what level of entry you choose. The reason it's cheaper is because feedback requires that readers make notes and write suggestions, then the Coordinator has to compile both reader's notes into one form. Feedback adds a lot of man-hours to each script and so it costs a bit more.
If I enter with no feedback, can I change my mind after results are announced and ask for feedback anyway?Will you tell me why I didn't win? Or how I scored compared to everybody else? Nope. If you want feedback, choose that option when you enter.
How will my script be judged? Each script will be scored on the following criteria: Writing Essentials, Dialogue, Characters, Plot, Originality, and Marketability.
Who are the readers? The contest readers are screenwriters, professional script readers, producers and consultants. Our readers have worked for the following companies: ICM, Tri-Star, MGM, MTV, Merchant Ivory Productions, Ovie Entertainment, Danger Films, Triage Entertainment, Disney, Hallmark Channel, Paramount, Viacom, the Motion Picture Academy's Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting, and many more.
What can I expect from the feedback Script Savvy provides? We will list your scores in each category, provide a brief explanation of each score, and give additional notes on the screenplay including practical advice for improvement.
When will I receive the feedback? Beginning November '07, the contest will be a monthly event. Feedback will be returned within 30 days of entry.
Do you guarantee that one of the contestants will have their script produced? No. Wish we could. But there are too many variables involved to make such a claim. We certainly hope that will be the outcome.
Is my script safe with Script Savvy? Yes. All of our readers are bound by the standard release agreement. Your work is your property unless/until you enter into a purchase agreement with another party. As a matter of standard practice, we strongly recommend that you register your script with the WGA. Is my contact info safe with Script Savvy? Yes. We will never share your contact info without your consent.
Will you confirm receipt of my script? Yes. We'll email a confirmation to you within 24 hours. If you've emailed your script and not received a confirmation within 24 hours, please be sure to check your bulk/junk/spam mail folder. If it's not there, contact the contest coordinator.
What happens to the winners after the results are announced? The winning scripts are pitched to our sponsors for production consideration. The winning author is put in touch with ScreenWritersVault.com and Inktip.com to receive their additional prizes.
How will the results be announced? Contest results are announced ON THIS WEBSITE, not by email.
